Remembering

With alot of help from our best friends Pete and Denise, We are keeping Shannon in our hearts. This weekend we put together a memorial garden in our backyard. It turned out great, Shannon would be proud.
Last fall, on our anual Halloween camping trip we planted Shannons favorite tree. We put it next to the play ground. We have lots of great memories there.
It has been a very busy year. The kids a doing well in school. I think the are doing ok with their loss. There has been alot of adjusting, but we are getting it done. I can't thank my friends and family enough.

Thanks, Ed

Dear Ed,

I responded to your thoughtful post on the MPIP but I wanted to say that the garden looks beautiful. I know Shannon would be so happy for you and the children to turn a sad time into something beautiful. Planting a tree and now the garden is so touching and I know Shannon would be proud. She was an amazing person and I'll never forget her. You and the children are very much in my thoughts and heart. As ever, Carver

Ed,
I love the garden, and I want to send thanks for keeping us in the loop with what is going on with your family. I think of Shannon so often- she made a real difference in my life when times were toughest. She was simply an amazing person, so I'm sure you know that she made a huge difference to so many. Thanks again,

-MM

Shannon was a very lucky girl to have such a loving family. And from what I know of Shannon from MPIP, her family was lucky to have known her.
It's funny how people in cyberspace can touch you as much as somebody standing next to you. All of us visiting MPIP were going through very tough times, and even though Shannon (aka Buterflymom) was going through her own ordeal, she was amazing enough to reach out to others. A very special person indeed.
I mentioned on the main board that I purchased some of Shannon's art and every year I would send those cards to people who helped my Dad in his fight. Shannon seemed to capture in her designs exactly what I wanted to say.
Ed, I am thinking of you and your children, and most of all I am thinking of Shannon.
Love from Australia

Dear Ed,

I'm so sorry for your loss and was touched by you wife's blog. She was obviously a very vivacious person and I'm so sorry she suffered so much.

I have a question. It wasn't clear in your wife's blog whether or not the initial "benign" diagnosis was, in fact, incorrect. I have a similar situation with a "benign" shave biopsy that has now grown back and I'm being told it needs to be excised.

Did your wife have a benign mole that grew back as melanoma, or was this a case where the mole wasn't really benign?

THank you.

To my darling Godson/most favorite nephew, Eddie; Shannon would be so proud of her man. I love the garden. As the year milestone approaches, I send my prayers for Shannon and my love to you and the kids.

I know exactly how you feel; Mike is gone not yet two months. I planted a tree and made a little memorial garden for him too.

You are in my heart always,

Love Karen

Dear Ed and family,

Thank you for the update on how all of you are doing. I think of Shannon often and continue to keep a link to her blog on mine, so others can learn what an inspirational person she was and what a great family Shannon has with you and the kids.

The tree and the garden are beautiful. A perfect way to remember her.

Take care. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

I am a teacher of Anatomy and found Shannon's blog while looking for lymphadema pictures. I was captivated by her story. My husband had had a slightly strange looking mole and after reading about Shannon's early issues, I had him go immediately to the dermotologist. Stage II melanoma. He is now recovered from the surgery and the doctors (two of them, wanted a second opinion) are confident the melanoma was removed and had not metastasized. We owe his life to Shannon. Many thanks.
